Dorian Block (née Salomé Block) is a digital marketing manager from Santa Fe, New Mexico with a background focused in entertainment marketing. Dorian earned his Bachelor of Arts in English with an Arts Administration concentration in 2015 from McMurry University and a Digital Marketing Certificate partnered with Facebook through Central New Mexico College in 2020. His cross-sector digital marketing career spans many industries, promoting for big brands with large followings including The Santa Fe Opera and Homewise.

Co-Founder & Brand Manager, MaeBerry Cosplay

January 2017 - Current

 

​Dorian Co-Founded MaeBerry Cosplay in 2017, building a website and blog combining Wix and WordPress to interact with fans across the world from monthly blog posts to social media handles on five different platforms. Almost 6,000 people have visited the website to date which boasts over 700 followers across all social mediums. He added community engagement tools in 2018, including a convention review platform for New Mexico convention attendees to rate their favorite conventions as well as a New Mexico Cosplayer listing. He is invited as press to cover southwest conventions as well as national conventions including ClexaCon (a Las Vegas, NV convention for LGBTQI+ women in media & entertainment) where he has three blogs featured in their online Press Room. His blog is ranked in the ‘75 Top Cosplay Blogs‘ by Feedspot, the most comprehensive list of cosplay blogs on the internet, and was most recently featured in the Cosplay Savant column of FangirlNation Magazine, with full-page spreads in Cosplayzine’s Nov-Dec issue and January Anime issue

Dorian grew the company's already large Facebook presence by almost 5% within the first year, presenting at the Facebook Community Boost in Santa Fe on growing audience and optimizing online advertising. Dorian was integral in creating and launching the company's fifth website in their 30-year history, optimizing webpage copy for SEO and better site navigation. Dorian further authored the Social Media Optimization and Content Strategy for two consecutive fiscal years (2018-2019).

Dorian copywrote, copyedited, and managed digital ads for the top marketing team in the United Soccer League (USL) Championship. His writing is featured on the top-performing page in USL history and his writing and photography made consistent appearances on the team's high-performing social media platforms. As the assistant to the Marketing & Communications Director; he managed a tight schedule, communicating with community and league partners to coordinate meetings; he oversaw the Local Artist Series retail line sourcing artists and assisted in executing on-field pre-game elements during home matches in Isotopes Park.

June 2017 - October 2017

 

Dorian gained experience managing marketing, media and public relations for an international brand while assisting heavily in the copywriting/editing, design direction, and publishing of various marketing pieces; from the annual 168-page program book and the Grammy Award Winning The Revolution of Steve Jobs Hybrid SACD, to seasonal magazines, print ads, eBlasts and subscription mailings. He developed proficiency in CRM systems, POS systems, and accounting software as well as archiving all press and media mentions, distributing regular reports of content to the entire annual staff and board.

June 2016 - June 2017

 

Dorian assisted in the creation and launching of campaigns and websites for multiple working groups within the collaborative, one of which even received commendations in an article from The New Mexican. He managed social media platforms for multiple initiatives, growing followers by almost 700% before his service was over on both Facebook and Twitter, improving the page's ROI and reaction time. He wrote all grants for the collaborative including an executive summary for the Santa Fe Mayor's Cabinet which made it to the final round at the United States Conference of Mayors with only five other cities in the country.

​2011 - 2015

 

Dorian earned his BA in English with an Arts Administration concentration in 2015 from McMurry University. He began his communications career writing for the McMurry University War Hawk Herald, a publication he later became the Editor of. He also served on the prose editing staff of McMurry’s literary magazine, The Galleon, which led to him becoming Art Editor of the publication. Dorian earned an Outstanding Position Paper Award at the 2014 National Model United Nations Conference in Rome, Italy for his proposed solution to addressing international human rights issues in the General Assembly 3rd Committee from the position of Argentina.
