WHO I AM
My name is Dorian Block (née Salomé Block) and I am a digital marketer from Santa Fe, New Mexico with a background focused in entertainment marketing. I have been working in the digital marketing field for about four years now. My cross-sector career spans many industries, promoting for big brands with large followings including world-renowned opera company, the Santa Fe Opera, and pro-soccer team New Mexico United. In order to gain experience having more autonomy over a brand, I Co-Founded MaeBerry Cosplay, a website and blog which is now ranked in the '75 top cosplay blogs' by Feedspot. I hold my B.A. in English with an Arts Administration concentration but wanted to legitimize my skillset in digital marketing through formal education so I am currently working towards a Digital Media Marketing Certificate partnered with Facebook through Central New Mexico College which will be complete in at the end of 2020.
I am interested in all aspects of digital storytelling because I want to learn how to more effectively craft narratives in media and online platforms. I would love to enhance the blogs I already create on a monthly basis as well as those I craft for organizations I work for. In addition to the digital yarns I spin I am a writer working on that elusive novel and anything I can learn about crafting a narrative will invariably improve my storytelling on non-digital platforms as well.
WHAT IS THIS BLOG
As I started my Digital Media Marketing Certification, it quickly became clear to me exactly how hands-on this degree would be. Both of the professors in my first two courses asked that we create a blog site external from BlackboardLearn on which to post our assignments as blogs. This will not only serve as that platform, but I hope it will extend beyond to educate others while recording my course portfolio.
As a hobby blogger for MaeBerry Cosplay, it had always been my intention to narrate my progress through this degree and perhaps post some tidbits I learned for my readers from the extended blogging communities I am a part of. These requisites just gave direction to what otherwise would have been my sometimes aimless ramblings in the form of prompts and other digital assignments I can feature on this platform for a wider viewership than just my classmates and professors.
